Golden Tornado Lose: -
The Butler Boys Bowling team finished tied for fifth place overall (out of 18 teams) at the WPIBL Team Championships held at Nesbit Lanes Wednesday. (Feb 12).  Senior Nathan Kniess led the Butler Boys with a 582 series and a high game of 228. His series was the seventh highest of the day. Freshman Rocco Rice had a 500 series and high game of 192.   Pittsburgh Central Catholic was the top qualifying team and defeated Hempfield 2-1 in the best-of-three championship round. Norwin finished third, followed by FranklinRegiona, Butler and Plum.   The Butler Boys team has qualified for the Pa Western Regional Tournament March 7th.   The Butler Girls will compete at the WPIBL Team Championships Thursday (Feb 13) at Princess Lanes.

Golden Tornado Win: 7 - 0
The Butler High School Boys and Girls Bowling teams completed a 10-0 regular season following a sweep of North Allegheny Wednesday ( February 5th ) at Perry Park Lanes.   The Butler Boys won 5-2 to clinch the WPIBL North Section. Chris Huff (senior) led all bowlers with a 641 series and high games of 235 & 257. Rocco Rice (freshman) added a 605 series and high game of 226.  Nathan Kniess (senior) had a high game of 214 and Brock Hepler (sophomore) had a high game of 211.   (Match Scores:  Butler-967/1103/897 = 2867.   North Allegheny-946/866/931 = 2743.)   The Butler Girls won 7-0 and were led by Harley Kriess (sophomore) who rolled a 630 series with a high game of 234. Reegan Malis (junior) added a 554 series with a high game of 205. Madison Weiland (sophomore) had a 532 series with a high game of 202.   (Match Scores:  Butler-924-867-894 = 2685.   North Allegheny-639/767/651 = 2057.)   Both Butler teams move on to the WPIBL Team Championships next week, and by winning their section, are guaranteed spots in the Pennsylvania Western Regional Championships in March.  Six of the Butler Girls and four of the Boys have qualified for the WPIBL Singles Championships in two weeks.

The Butler High School Bowling teams both swept Seneca Valley 7-0 Wednesday (1/22/20) at Family Bowlaway.   The Butler Boys were led by freshman Rocco Rice who rolled a 720 series with a high game of 253. Senior Chris Huff rolled a 627 and sophomore Brock Hepler rolled a 618 series with a high game of 215. Senior Blaine Hooks rolled a high game of 206 and Senior Nathan Kniess had a high game of 215 on Senior Night.   Senior Ryan Thoma led Seneca Valley with a 552 series and high game of 205. Tiler Stoops added a 550 series with a high game of 209.   (Match Score:  Butler-1043/1015/983 = 3041.   Seneca Valley-780/769/841 = 2390).   The Butler Girls were led by junior Lauren Bash with a 578 series with a high game of 203. Junior Rachael Blose added a 553. Sophomore Katlyn Wolf had a high game of 194.   Senior Kaelah Nelson had a 587 series with a high game of 236 for Seneca Valley.   (Match Score:   Butler-830/881/905 = 2616.  Seneca Valley-236/184/167 = 587.)   The Butler Girls clinched the North Section title with the victory. Both Butler teams are now 8-0 this season. Both Seneca Valley teams fell to 3-4.

The Butler high school bowling teams swept Mars 7-0 Wednesday (Jan 15) at Family Bowlaway.   Freshman Rocco Rice led the Butler Boys with a 607 series and high game of 224. Senior Chris Huff added a 583 series and high game of 212. Senior Nathan Kniess had a 214 game.  (Alex Ola led Mars with a high game of 173 (383 series).   (Match Score:  Butler--1025/860/841 = 2726.    Mars--657/473/534 = 1664)   Junior Rachael Blose led the Butler Girls with a 582 series with a high game of 250. Junior Reegan Malis added a 570 series and high game of 258.   (Match Score:   Butler--966/800/870 = 2636.   Mars=226/200/220 = 655.)   Both Butler teams improved to 7-0. They host Seneca Valley for Senior Day next Wednesday (Jan 22nd) at Family Bowlaway

The Butler Boys and Girls Bowling teams swept North Allegheny Monday (Jan 13) at Family Bowlaway.   The Butler Boys defeated North Allegheny 5-2 to take the North Section lead. Senior Chris Huff led Butler with  a 585 series. Freshman Rocco Rice added a 563. Both bowlers had a high game of 212. (Jeb Jorden of N.A. led all bowlers with a 616 series.) Butler improved to 6-0. North Allegheny fell to 5-1.   (Match Score:   Butler--843/906/919 = 2668.  North Allegheny--870/881/847 = 2598.)   The Butler Girls defeated North Allegheny 7-0. Junior Reegan Malis rolled a 595 series with a high game of 213. Sophomore Madison Weiland added a 515 series and high game of 197. The Butler Girls also improved to 6-0. North Allegheny fell to 4-2.   (Match Score:  Butler--849/801/796 = 2446.    North Allegheny--747/753/612 = 2112.)   Both Butler teams host Mars Wednesday (Jan 15) at Family Bowlaway beginning at 3:15pm.

Golden Tornado Win: 7 - 0
The Butler high school bowling teams remained undefeated after sweeping Shaler Wednesday (Jan 8) at Perry Park Lanes.   The Butler Girls defeated the section-rival Titans 5-2. Butler lost the opening game by four pins, but took the match with a 137-pin victory in game two and a 10-pin victory in the final game. Rachael Blose led Butler with a 556 series with a high game of 209. Reegan Malis added a 518 series. Madison Weiland had a high game of 195.   Bella Pilyih led Shaler with a 591 series.   The Butler Girls improved to 5-0 this season and remained in first place in the North Section. Shaler fell to 3-2.   (Girls Totals:  Butler--866/899/813 = 2578.  Shaler--870/762/803 = 2435).   Chris Huff led the Butler Boys to a 7-0 victory with a 622 series and high game of 228. Blaine Hooks added a 575 series featuring a pair of 202 games. Rocco Rice added a 206.    Ryan Callahan led Shaler with a 608 series.   The Butler Boys also improved to 5-0 this season and face 5-0 North Allegheny Monday (Jan 13) in a section showdown at Family Bowlaway. The Butler high school boys and girls bowling teams swept Seneca Valley 7-0 Wednesday (Dec 11) at Belmont Bowl.   Seneca Valley bowler Ryan Thoma led all bowlers with a 640 series with a high game of 231. Jason Hartenstein had a high game of 234.   Brock Hepler led the Butler boys with a 548 series. Nathan Kniess added 529 series. Chris Huff had the high Butler game with a 196.   (Boys Match Score-  Butler: 810-867-859=2536.    Seneca Valley:  757-840-778=2375)   The Butler Girls were led by Reegan Malis who rolled a 547 series with a high game of 204. The Butler high school bowling teams swept the Mars bowling teams 7-0 Monday (Dec 9) at Mars Lanes. Brock Hepler led the Butler Boys with a 571 series that included a high game of 201. Chris Huff added a 561 series. Nathan Kniess had a high game of 188.  Alex Ola led Mars with a 442 series.   The Butler Girls were led by Rachael Blose who rolled a 480 series with a high game of 187. The Butler Girls and Boys Bowling teams swept Shaler 7-0 in their opening match of the season Wednesday (Dec 4) at Family Bowlaway.   The Butler Girls were led by Natalie Coughenour who rolled a 520 series with a high game of 195. Reegan Malis added a 505 series with a high game of 200. Harley Kriess added a high game of 185.   (Match score-- Butler: 859-762-776=2397. Shaler:  848-724-721=2293. )   The Butler Boys were led by Rocco Rice with a 595 series and high games of 234 & 200. Chris Huff added a 583 series and high game of 213.
